A two‑day, face‑to‑face course designed to equip managers and leaders with the confidence, knowledge and practical skills needed to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities.
Effective safeguarding relies on strong leadership. This specialist training supports managers to create safe, high‑quality environments for children and young people, work collaboratively with statutory partners, and ensure their teams understand and uphold best practice.

Who is this course for?
Managers and leaders who already have a solid grounding in safeguarding practice and have completed relevant earlier‑level training.
What you’ll learn
By the end of this course, participants will:
- Strengthen their ability to develop, review and embed robust safeguarding policies and procedures across Break.
- Gain a clear understanding of the safeguarding lead role, including partnership working with statutory agencies and other key stakeholders.
- Build confidence in applying current legislation and statutory guidance that underpins safeguarding practice.
- Know how to escalate concerns promptly and appropriately, both internally and externally.
- Develop the confidence to challenge professional opinions and support colleagues in doing the same when concerns persist.
- Learn from internal cases and national serious case reviews, applying lessons to practice and sharing learning organisation‑wide.
- Deepen understanding of complex safeguarding themes, such as neglect, domestic abuse and missing‑from‑care risks.
- Recognise how a quality service links directly to a safe culture, and understand how to champion this across teams.
- Contribute to safe recruitment, staff management and the handling of employment endings where safeguarding issues arise.
- Understand safeguarding training requirements across the organisation, ensuring appropriate provision and evaluating its effectiveness.
- Learn how to implement and review safeguarding audits, identify gaps and report findings to senior management.
- Strengthen personal resilience through an understanding of self‑care, supervision requirements, and how to support colleagues involved in safeguarding matters
