Foster with Break
Give them a place that's theirs. A place to unpack, belong, and be themselves. Let their next move be where they can finally settle.
Sometimes what a young person needs most is a steady, safe place to call home.
By opening up your home, you can give them a space that’s theirs and the everyday signs of care that help them feel safe and belong.
And while you focus on the day-to-day, Break is here for you too. As a not-for-profit fostering agency, we reinvest every penny into giving you the guidance, training and support you need to create the best opportunities for you and the young people you care for.
We understand that choosing to open your home and your heart begins with a conversation.
Whether you’re an experienced foster carer looking to transfer to Break, or you’re simply exploring if fostering could be right for you, our friendly team is here to answer any questions you might have.
Our approach
We believe fostering is more than offering a home - it’s offering the warmth, security and sense of family every child deserves.
Fully trauma-informed
Many of the children we support have experienced trauma. That’s why our entire approach is trauma-informed and through this understanding the children in our care can heal and thrive. We give our carers the specialist training and guidance and they need to understand behaviour, build trust, create stability and parent therapeutically.
And because we’re a charity, every penny we make is reinvested back into our young people and carers so together, we can create lasting change.
Therapeutic parenting
Therapeutic parenting isn’t just a technique - it’s a nurturing approach grounded in empathy and understanding. Instead of managing behaviour, it helps carers see behaviour as communication, shaped by a child’s past experiences.
Built on neuroscience, therapeutic parenting uses warmth, consistency and predictable routines to help rewire the brain. Over time, this helps children rebuild trust in themselves and the adults around them.
How fostering payments work
We know that fostering isn’t about the money, but we do know that finances are an important part of making fostering sustainable. We've explained how it all works.
Contact the team
We are always happy to talk to anyone exploring fostering. There is no pressure or obligation, just an open conversation to see if it could be right for you.
Support and training
We know every child's needs are different. Our social workers support a smaller number of families than most agencies, allowing us to provide personalised support for your whole family, including your own children.
We offer:
- One-to-one sessions with our therapeutic parenting practitioner
- Monthly supervision with your social worker
- Regular support groups with other Break foster carers
- Meet-ups for your own children to connect, share, and have fun
- Access to Break’s full range of wrap around services supporting your foster family
- And much more
