Who we are

No young person should feel alone in the world. At Break, we make sure they don’t.

We walk alongside children and young people in, around
and leaving care when we’re needed most. Through
fostering, residential homes, family support, mentoring and
our leaving care service, we help children and young people
build their confidence, create strong relationships and
experience new opportunities.

Simply put, we care differently. More than support, we offer
life long care, love and ambition so that young people can
grow beyond what they thought was possible.

Caring differently

Our mission is to give young people in, around and leaving care the love, support and ambition they deserve.

Everything we do is guided by our values, which are:

Our relationships are our biggest strength and source of inspiration. We connect with our young people, and we connect others to them. We are the community we build around us.

We are a reliable source of compassion, stability and security for the young people we walk alongside.

We are curious about new ways of thinking, working and doing. Ideas can come from anywhere, so we listen, really listen, to what's being said. Then, we do what's needed.

We advocate for our young people and campaign alongside them. Even though we are working within an unequal system, it doesn't mean we can't influence it for the better. When things are wrong, we try our best to make them right.

Lifelong offer

We are dedicated to empowering young care leavers to build fulfilling, independent lives. For many young people leaving care, the journey can often feel challenging without the traditional safety nets of family and long-term guidance. And, without the right support they can be at a higher risk of homelessness, unemployment, and mental health challenges.
