Safeguarding Disabled Children

Participants will:
• Explore the context within which disabled children are safeguarded, including current legislation and guidance.
• Reflect on lessons learnt from safeguarding practice reviews involving disabled children.
• Consider the particular circumstances which may make some disabled children more vulnerable to abuse, including the concept of created vulnerability.
• Identify the signs and indicators presented by disabled children who may have experienced abuse and explored the potential for confusion in interpretation.
• Discuss key features of good practice.
• Consider the factors which may influence the threshold of concern and intervention for disabled children.
• Enhance their ability to be professionally curious in relation to the lives of disabled children.
