Break Therapeutic Services

Break Therapeutic Services

For our young people to be able to begin to heal from the trauma they have experienced, they need to be able to feel safe and stable in the relationships they build with themselves and others.

“It’s good to know the impact of trauma on the body and brain development, and also how it feels for us to work in relationship with young people to help them heal”

Break’s in-house therapeutic team (BTS) ensures that the wellbeing of both our staff and young people is at the forefront of everything we do, providing a team around the team.

Underpinned by an understanding of developmental trauma and attachment theory, BTS makes sure our teams are well-equipped both practically and emotionally, to provide attuned, sensitive, and trauma-informed care for our young people.

These include:

  • Training and CPD
  • Regular team and individual reflective sessions
  • One-to-one support for managers
  • Collaborative care planning that shares risk

Not only does this mean that our staff feel more resilient and confident supporting our young people to heal, but it also means that our young people are able to form consistent and stable relationships.

“It’s helped me to realize that what I do matters, just being present makes a difference and that I can be more forgiving on myself.”

Our BTS practitioners hold, or are working towards, qualifications in:

DDP Levels 1 and 2, Practitioners Diploma (Level 6) Integrated Systemic Therapy, psychotherapeutic counselling, integrative psychotherapy, creative (drama)therapy, clinical (creative) supervision, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
