Therapeutic Services

Therapeutic Services

Break has a team of therapists, social workers, specialist parenting and therapeutic practitioners with many years of experience of working with children and young adults who have had challenging early experiences. Many have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect and many no longer live with their birth families.

We work with the aim of strengthening relationships and support families, individuals and professionals in understanding and processing the difficulties that are being experienced.

We specialise in providing tailored support that will meet the needs and circumstance of the child and family, providing tailor made services that address their situation.

Therapy sessions

Typically therapy sessions are an hour long and take place in our purpose built suite of therapeutic rooms. We use creative techniques such as play, drama and art to enable children to explore their experiences and recognise and process their emotions. Children are supported in being able to emotionally cope and are better able to access social and learning opportunities. On a standard week we are supporting 80 different children and families, some of this support may last as little as three months, in other cases they may require a lifetime of support.

Integrated therapy

We support parents and carers to better understand and respond to the needs of the child and young person. We frequently offer therapeutic parenting sessions where possible.

Our team also work across all the Break children’s services to integrate a therapeutic approach across everything we do.

If you would like to talk to Break about referring a child or young person to this or one of our other services please contact us or send a referral to referrals@break-charity.org today.
