A skydive for all the family!

5 Sep 2022

Falling 13,000 feet out of a plane might not be everyone’s idea for a fun family day out but not for Suzie Thurlow and her family.

Together with her 79-year-old mother, her sister, daughter and niece and nephew, they all took to the skies for a tandem skydive, raising over £1400 for Break!

“Some were a bit more forthcoming than others when I put the idea to them,” comments Suzie, Break’s Head of Community Services. “But after a few drinks at a family party, they all said yes. Luckily, I remembered and held them to it!”

Having done the jump once before, Suzie knew what to expect but her mum and her sister were quite anxious. “We were concerned about whether or not mum would be able to do it,” says Suzie. “But the people at UK Parachuting were really helpful and said as long as she’s able to lift her legs to do the landing she’ll be ok, and she was! She may not be in a hurry to do it again, but she said it was a fantastic experience and she’s glad she’s been able to tick it off her bucket list!”

Suzie, on the other hand, has enjoyed it so much she is now looking to train to do solo jumps along with her nephew, who loved his first jump and now wants to do more!
