Break continually provides an excellent standard of family assessment reports for Court

Family Assessments

Break’s residential family assessment centre provides parenting assessments for vulnerable families where there are significant concerns that parents are unable to keep their child safe and meet their needs for a variety of reasons. We provide comprehensive written reports, with recommendations for the future and can give evidence in court if required.

Our priority is the well being of the child. We offer teaching and support to enable parents to develop their parenting skills and consider past issues. We use Signs of Safety as an assessment tool and work with parents openly and honestly to observe the relationship between parents and children. Staff have a range of skills and expertise, i.e. Social Work qualifications, PAMs assessors, Learning Disability, Mental Health issues, Play and Child Development, Freedom Programme (Domestic Violence)  and are experienced in working with complex family situations.

The Centre can accommodate up to 4 families who each have their own ensuite bedroom and separate kitchen. Communal areas at the Centre include a sitting room, laundry, meeting room and a large child friendly garden.

It has been agreed that one assessment place at Hazeldene can be released for spot purchase by any local authority, dependant on the level of demand for our services from Norfolk County Council at the time.
