Ashcroft Supported Housing
This scheme provides flat and bungalow accommodation in Wymondham and a nearby village. Women with mental health needs live semi-independently in their own homes with daily support from workers so that over time they develop the skills and confidence to move on into mainstream housing.
Run in partnership with Orbit Housing Association and South Norfolk Council, these schemes enable women to live in the community with regular support from housing support workers.
Therapeutic activities include weekly coffee mornings for all tenants and supported housing staff, group outings, tenants' meetings and a service users' forum. There is also access to local leisure facilities.
Every tenant is initially visited on a daily basis for an hour of one to one support time, from housing related issues, accessing services in the community, monitoring health and well being and developing social and life skills. As progress is made towards independent living this support is reduced.
Supported Housing is a stepping stone to more independent living and tenancies in both schemes are assured short-hold. Duration of occupancy is usually 2-3 years, dependent on the individual's own pathway to recovery.
