Mental Health Services for Women

Ashcroft Residential

Ashcroft is a specialist care home registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for women aged 16-65 years who are diagnosed with a mental health difficulty.  Located in the delightful village of Wicklewood near Wymondham in Norfolk, Ashcroft is unique in providing a women only service with a range of therapeutic interventions in a safe and tranquil setting.

The unit offers short to medium term placements, planned respite and emergency admissions.  Ashcroft provides a safe, healthy and positive environment that enables women to develop trust and follow their own pathway to recovery

Art and Art Therapy

Art is well recognised as having therapeutic properties.  At Ashcroft we offer one to one art therapy sessions to all our residents, both respite and extended placements.  Art therapy can be a chance to play, explore or express feelings using art materials in a safe space.  Sometimes words can't be found to describe thoughts and feelings but images can help.  There are also regular art and craft group sessions and other art based activites.  Residents can use the art room and materials whenever it is free.

Massage

Massage is a common language, one that can be used to heal or reassure, to relieve pain, soothe away tensions or convey the fact we care.  It gives us a breathing space in which to relax.  It can be a time of self discovery, revealing how it feels to be more relaxed and in tune with our basic nature.  Through massage it is possible to access safe healing touch; it is possible to challenge and reinstate our personal boundaries; it is possible to re-connect the body with the mind and to begin to heal the relationship we have with ourselves.

Ashcroft is available to women regardless of where they live.  Break contracts with a number of local authorities to provide high quality, cost effective care services.

Ashcroft currently has a small number of vacancies for planned respite or medium term placements.

Please contact the Unit Manager, Penny Newton 01953 607340 or email penny.newton@break-charity.org, to discuss your requirements.

Ashcroft Supported Housing

Our service provides housing and specialist support for women aged 18-64 with significant and serious mental health needs.  We strive to ensure a service culture that empowers people and enables them to increase their assertiveness, confidence and awareness.  We provide a flexible responsive service where individual needs are central to a support planning process.

Supported Housing aims to provide a better quality of life for vulnerable women enabling them to acquire independent living skills, maintain tenancies and to provide housing related support to prevent problems that often lead to hospitalisation, residential care and homelessness.

Break has 12 properties in Norfolk; six flats in Wymondham and six bungalows in the nearby village of Wicklewood.  Tenants hold an assured short-hold tenancy and are supported daily by experienced housing support workers

For further information about our supported housing service, please contact our office on 01953 602732.
